“WeTalk - Philosophically Speaking”

Love, Beauty and Desire are all attributes of the Goddess Aphrodite, but so too is the Femme Fatale - perhaps the most feared personification of femininity throughout history.  

Colette has chosen the world-famous Dutch Exotic Dancer and supposed Spy, Mata Hari, as an example of a historical woman who embodies all the characteristics mentioned above, only to be executed by a firing squad in 1917.

Mata also has associations with the Hotel where the talk/discussion will be held.  Her wedding reception took place in their beautiful Art Deco “Café Americain,” and her wedding night was spent in the Hotel American itself: the name being changed only recently to “Hard Rock Hotel, Amsterdam, American.” 

The purpose of “WeTalk” is to discuss a topic, freely ask questions, express thoughts, insights and doubts while respecting the differences of other attendees.  No philosophical education is necessary. We only ask that you listen with respect while remaining open to what others have to say.

Colette Kavanagh has a Ph.D. in Cultural Psychology and works internationally. Her special interest is in the diverse beliefs and values of cultures and how they manifest in today’s changing world. This includes women’s spirituality. Her role as facilitator is not to lecture, but to encourage open discussion within the group.
