About the event
From being in charge of the development of post-war Amsterdam to saving the lives of 10.000 Jewish children during the Holocaust and easing the suffering of those at home in Amsterdam’s Red-Light district – women have played a huge role in the history of the city.
Unfortunately, their contributions largely go unmentioned which is why I want to tell you their hidden stories.
So, let's explore Amsterdam through the ages – from its creation to its current political struggles while also learning about -
* the female resistance heroes who smuggled children to their safety
*the woman whose status as the Netherlands’ first female student caused newspaper headlines up and down the country even before she set up the Netherland's first family planning clinic
*the woman who gave Amsterdam its forest and quite literally shaped the city as we know it today
